The temperature when keeping warm is between 104 F and 122 F.
It takes about 15 to 25 minutes to heat a cup of water (time to evaporate).
Please confirm the power cord plug of the cooker has been completely insert into the socket, or overload device of the socket has jumped off.
Please confirm whether the cooking switch has been pressed, or whether the power cord plug has been fully inserted into the socket.
Please confirm whether the lid of the cooker has been tightly closed when cooking, or whether the adequate amount of water has been added to outer pot of the cooker.
When the switch jumps up, it is a normal mechanical and physical phenomenon that you cannot press cooking switch immediately. You need to wait for temperature to cool down prior to continue cooking. It usually takes about 3-5 minutes for the cooker to cool down.
The structure of bottom of the outer pot cooperates with the heating elements. After heating conduction, water stain and circular marks will be generated due to heat gathering, which is normal physical phenomenon. It is harmless to human body.
After cooking, it is normal to have minor residue left on the surface of the cooker. To clean the residue stains simply follow the methods below. (DO NOT use baking soda to clean the cooker)
a. Fill the water to 2/3 of outer pot , add 30g Citric Acid or few slice of lemon or lime.
b. Let it cook till the water is boiling (about 40 minutes). Keep the water in boiling state for few minutes.
c. Turn off the cooker and unplug the power cable.
d. Let it sit for 1 hour, dispose the water and use a soft wet cloth to clean the inside
***** Cautions!!*****
* The cooker body and its surface is hot!! Please be careful when you are cleaning the cooker.*
What causes the residue?
Water contains minerals and organic compounds and when it interacts with Heat, Oxygen, or Carbon Dioxide it undergoes a chemical change resulting in residue. This is a natural process that occurs when water is boiled over 140 degrees Fahrenheit. If you find heavy residue in your cooker we suggest you repeat the cleaning process several times.
Regular Maintenance :
1. Always dry rice cooker with a cloth to prevent stains immediately.
2. When cleaning, use non-abrasive tools such as paper towels or soft cloth.
3. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. They are likely to scratch the surface of your cooker and make it appear dull and aged.
4. DO NOT use abrasive sponge, wire brush, steel wool to scrub your cooker. It will make your beautiful appliances appear dull.
Tatung multifunctional cooker uses steam produced by heating water to cook the food. When steam is generated, the internal press of the cooker is going up and the steam pushes the lid of the pot to make the sound when it collides with the outer pot.
Furthermore, when cooking switch jumps off, the metal is going to cool down and it makes sound in the pot, which is normal physical phenomenon. No safety issue.
When using the Tatung Multifunctional Cooker at the beginning, white smoke comes out after heating. This is evaporation of protective oil of internal parts of the cooker, which will be gone away after several uses.
This occurs when the stainless steel is undergoing deep drawing and sheet metal processing and the lubricant smeared on the surface remains. Another reason could be that when the stainless steel is undergoing surface finishing (polishing or hairline surface treatment), the grindstone or the dust of stainless steel remains. Therefore, we suggest our customers to wash the inner surface of stainless steel pot thoroughly with hot water and neutral detergent prior to using the rice cooker for the first time. Afterwards we put some clean water and white vinegar for cooking in the pot, then boil the water with high heat. Repeat this process twice, wipe the inner surface of the pot with paper napkins and make sure it's thoroughly rid off the lubricant residual.
The aluminum on the outer side turns black due to the water quality. The consumer is recommended to wipe this side clean with the wet cloth and keep it dry to prolong the service life of the product. In addition, the consumer is recommended to turn the rice cooker on without anything in it before the first use to enhance the surface hardness. (We have done this twice before the rice cooker leaves the factory.)
The consumer is recommended to turn the rice cooker on without anything in it before the first use to remove the smell of the lubricant used for the inner parts. The lubricant is harmless to humans. (We have done this twice before the rice cooker leaves the factory.)
It is normal physical phenomenon. Rainbow colors may appear in the pot made of stainless steel after cooking for a period of time. The quality of the pot will not be affected. It is recommended to clean the cooker with critic acid or vinegar regularly.
[Note]: Stainless steel is clean on the surface and has high density. Formation of rainbow colors is the nature of the material because:
1. Food is cooked in the pot without water
2. Food is cooked at high temperature
3. Sediments are produced because minerals comes out of the water or food when it is cooked
The aluminum outer pot turns black due to the water quality or as a result of soaking in the water for a prolonged period of time. The consumer is recommended to wipe the outer pot clean with a piece of wet cloth after it is used and keep it dry to prolong the service life of the product.
The stainless steel outer pot may rust on the surface due to residues in the water. The consumer is recommended to wipe the outer pot clean with a piece of wet cloth after it is used and keep it dry to prolong the service life of the product. The stainless steel outer pot should not soak in liquid with high salt concentration for a prolonged period of time. Otherwise, the surface of the outer pot may be damaged
